Obituary

Wanda Lee Pickens, 84, of Hot Springs passed away Friday, June 28, 2019.

She was born April 10, 1935 in Fagus, Missouri to the late Ellis Edgar “Ed” Hunt and Ruby Edwin King Hunt.

Wanda‘s family moved several times in her younger years between Arkansas, and Missouri before finally settling in Dudley, Missouri, where much of her family still reside.

She met and married the love of her life, Billy Ralph Pickens, in 1951 when she was only 16.

Wanda was a natural giver, if she had it and you needed it, it was yours. She took great pride in caring for her family. She took care of others too; much of her work was as a Certified Nursing Assistant in nursing homes. She was dedicated and dependable, even walking to work when she didn’t have car. She was tough, life threw numerous challenges her way and she always managed to conquer them. If you knew her you were blessed.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; one daughter, Brenda Jean Hall; one son, Gary Pickens; two siblings, Jimmy Hunt and Carolyn McCutchen; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Trisha and Shantell Cox

She is survived by her son, Charlie Pickens; grandchildren, Karen Swartz, Katrina Bigham (Larry), Kendra Oliver, Angie Naylor (Kim), Brian Cox (Shree), Chris Cox (Kelly), and Davina Mitchell; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and one on the way; one brother, Donald Hunt; four sisters, Barbara Montgomery, Shirley McAllister, Janice Townsend and Debbie Barnes; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members who loved her dearly.

Services will be held at a later date.
