Written collectively by the children and grandchildren of Joann Joyce Pietrobon, while sitting on her back porch comforted by the love she surrounds us with.

Peggy Joann Pietrobon, 81, of White Hall, AR, passed away Monday, September 16th, 2019 after a full and wonderful life.

Born October 6th, 1937 in Glen Allan, MS to Waymond and Muriel Stokes Joyce, Jo was a voracious reader and dancer from first step. A majorette at Greenville High School, she went on to attend Mississippi University for Women, where she never missed an opportunity to cheer on her local team. Much like her beloved brother, Jefferson County Juvenile Court Judge Jimmy Joyce, Jo was a lifelong civil servant, serving for the legal office of Pine Bluff Arsenal for 25 years. She was a Christian woman of fierce spirit and a true Southern Belle. She was known for her many catered lunches to the students of White Hall Schools and her Christmas cookies left a thin layer of powdered sugar over the community that all came to love. She was so dedicated to feeding others that she regularly traveled cross country with a fully cooked ham to present to her loved ones.

A true matriarch, her greatest joy in life was family. She is survived by her two children Melissa (Terry) Brodnax of White Hall, AR and Michael Pietrobon of Los Angeles, CA. Truly, no one knew love more than her grandchildren, Hunter, Abbey, Joey, and Allie. Every birthday and holiday was filled with cookies and joy that will be forever missed. Her grandsons will miss the stern talks and finger wags they received from their fearless leader, and her granddaughters will miss the many tales she told over afternoon parties only a true tea party enthusiast could throw. She will be remembered fondly for her love of Sundays — praising God at her church and whipping up a batch of buttery goodness to enjoy later that evening during the latest season of The Walking Dead, or with reruns of Daniel Boone.

As she told many through her life, one of her fondest memories was the the sparkle of her red sequined dance costume as a child. Though she is no longer with us on this Earth , and already deeply missed, she will forever sparkle in the lives of the ones that loved her so.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 20th, 2019 at First Baptist Church of White Hall. Reverend Paul Williams will officiate. Burial will be held immediately following at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00pm-2:00pm Friday at the church.

Jo was like a surrogate mom, she was still trying to whip me into being a better person long after I turned 40. I tell people I came back to PBA just see her (and eat her cooking). She is a big part of my family’s life and gave us so many great memories. Her work ethic, sense of humor, and love of her family were an example for us all. The angels may be having her chicken spaghetti tonight.
