Obituary for Kenneth Wayne Ray

Kenneth Wayne Ray, 81, of White Hall, Arkansas passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Ray was born on June 9, 1941, in Desha County, to Ina Ruth Downen Holland.

He was reared and received his early education in Dumas, graduating from Dumas High School.

Kenneth served in the United States Army.  He worked for International Paper for over 30 years, starting as a mill wright and retiring as a maintenance foreman for the #2 machine.  

He loved his family, his church and antiquing.  Kenneth was self-taught to fix anything.  If it was broken, he would find a way to fix it.

Kenneth was a member of Hardin Baptist Church.  Mr. Ray never missed school events and baseball games for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In his younger years, he served as a Mason.

Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth “Kenny” Ray; and grandparents who helped raise him, J.W. and Bertha Downen.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Sue Lloyd Ray; daughters, Teresa Leopard, Susan Smith and Laura Songer (Trey); grandchildren, Jamie Castaneda, James Leopard, Seth Songer, Shane Songer, Adam Owings, David Owings and Daniel Owings; great-grandchildren, Sam Mincy, Hannah Owings, Dannie Owings, Adalynn Owings, Carson Castaneda, and Cason Castaneda all White Hall.

A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Hardin Cemetery with Brother Johnny Taylor officiating.
