Jimmy Lee Monk, 72, of White Hall, died Friday, September 27, 2019 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born July 11, 1947 in Pine Bluff, son of Carroll C. “Bud” Monk, Jr. and Delia Massanelli Monk.
Jimmy was reared and received his education in White Hall.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jimmy was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
Jimmy was a retired self-employed contractor.
He loved anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Jimmy was very proud being recognized by Boone and Crockett for scoring the biggest deer in the state of Arkansas at the time. He also enjoyed watching Westerns on television and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, JoAnn Monk Lain; and step-daughter, Dana Breedlove.
Survivors include his son, Greg Monk (Lynne) of White Hall; two daughters, Amy Monk Ward (Mike) of Monticello and Kim Monk Wood (Barry) of White Hall; sister, Helen Rasor; three brothers, Clarence “Bubba” Monk, Donnie Monk and Tommy Monk; and six grandchildren, Amelia, Hudson, Graham, Vince, Alec and Daniel.
A graveside service with military honors will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 3, 2019 at White Hall United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the White Hall United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
