Garie Matthew Ray, 38, of White Hall, passed away, Friday, May 31, 2019.

Born September 18, 1980 at El Dorado, he was a son of Garie R. Ray of White Hall and the late Linda Davenport Ray.

A bright young man, Garie had attended The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts in Hot Springs; returning home to be able to join his friends in the graduating class of 1998 at Fordyce High.

Garie enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He also loved to talk sports and engage others in political debates.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Doyle and Letha May Ray; and his maternal grandfather, Alvin Davenport.

Garie is survived his father, Garie R. Ray and wife Leslie; sister, Jessie Clauson; his maternal grandmother, Mary Sue Langford Davenport; three uncles, Roger Davenport, Jim Davenport, and William Ray; an aunt, Becky Tanner; and many other loving family and friends.

Family expresses appreciation to his special friends Dr. Kris Freeland and the entire Freeland family, Mandy Wilson, Danny Hogue, Allison Morphew, Larry Allison and my brother for their strength and support during his illness.

No formal services are to be held at this time.

Memorials may be made to the UAMS Cancer Institute at 4301 W. Markham Street, #716, Little Rock, AR 72205

He was sooo sweet, and a fun sense of humor. Every time i would see him; he would give the best hugs. He will truly be missed. May he Rest In Peace. 😭😭😭😥

Garie was such a sweet guy! He was an amazing friend to me during my first years of being a young single mother and always had something to say to put a smile on everyone’s face. He will be truly missed

I am so very sorry to hear of Garie’s passing. I can remember being in quiz bowl and GT with Garie growing up. He was a very intelligent, funny and kind person. My heart goes out to his family.
