Obituary

Floyd “Sonny” Johnson, 79 of Redfield, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019. He was born February 22, 1939 in Pine Bluff to the late Elma “Buddy” and Edith Glover Johnson.
Sonny graduated from White Hall High School in 1957. He then served in the U. S. Navy for 4 years on active duty in Utility Squadron 1, Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron 117 and Naval Air Station, Barbers Point, Hawaii, then Naval Air Station Corpus Christie, Texas then for 6 additional years in the Naval Reserve Electronics Division at 8-9 and Naval Reserve Surface Division 8-9 in Pine Bluff. He was the recipient of the Navy Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals. He was also a life member of Windom-Ford Post No. 343, The American Legion, in Redfield.
He then worked 8 years on the Trans Alaskan Pipeline in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and was also a master mechanic. He served as Mayor of Redfield for 14 years and also worked for Redfield Waterworks. He will be loved and missed by many.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Eileen Mezera Johnson, whom he married June 10, 1994 in Redfield; 3 sons, Cliff Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, Jeff Johnson of Mayflower, and Lt. Col. Todd Johnson of Wiesbaden, Germany; 3 daughters, Susie (Eric) Maynard of Redfield, Katie James of Redfield, and Leigh Anne James of Little Rock; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and 1 sister, Mona Pierce.
Also preceding him in death was a sister, Linda Ray.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Monday at Robinson-Fuller White Hall Chapel with Rev. Darrell Stayton officiating. Burial will be in Redfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Sonny is my Father in law and Papa Johnson to My kids and Grandkids. He was Loved and will be missed by our Family. I know Grandma Rinehart was waiting with open arms to welcome you home.
